Relationships can bring out some of the most meaningful parts of who we are, and sometimes the most difficult ones. When the same arguments keep happening, conversations turn into conflict or distance, or you no longer feel understood by one another, it can become difficult to find your way back to each other.
Couples therapy offers a space to slow those patterns down and understand what is happening underneath them. Rather than focusing only on who is right or wrong, we can explore the emotions, needs, expectations, and attachment patterns that shape the way you relate to one another. This can also mean making space for the family dynamics, cultural values, and expectations each person brings into the relationship.
My approach is collaborative and relational, drawing from Gottman-informed and emotionally focused approaches. Together, we can work toward communicating more openly, understanding one another deeply, repairing hurt, and creating a relationship that feels more connected and secure. I’m particularly attentive to the ways our backgrounds and the families we come from can influence how we understand love, commitment, communication, and partnership.
