Hello, I am a therapist licensed in both New York and Florida, based in New York City, committed to providing compassionate care and support through evidence-based therapeutic practices. I offer In-person, remote, and hybrid counseling.
I’m Joya Lahoud, MHC-LP, a New York City based therapist who works with individuals, couples, and families navigating Anxiety, Depression, OCD, Trauma, mood concerns, relationship difficulties, life transitions, self-esteem, and patterns that can feel difficult to break on your own. I received my master's in Mental Health Counseling, M.A. & M.Ed, from Columbia University, Teachers College.
My approach is warm, honest, and deeply relational. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can be fully yourself, but also one where you can be thoughtfully challenged. Rather than focusing only on what is happening right now, I’m interested in understanding the patterns underneath: how you relate to yourself and others, where those patterns may have come from, and what keeps them going. My work draws from psychodynamic and attachment-based approaches, while incorporating evidence-based strategies from CBT, DBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and various approaches depending on your needs. For couples and relationships, I draw from Gottman-informed and emotionally focused approaches.
I strive for a collaborative and individualized approach. You won’t be given a one-size-fits-all formula. My goal isn't to tell you who you should be, but to help you understand yourself more clearly, build a stronger relationship with yourself and others, and feel more capable of making choices that genuinely fit the life you want.
Our office is located in the heart of Midtown, Manhattan.
